On the eve of the first match of the Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand, Canada will be waiting to catch a first glimpse of their opponents in the tournament as the hosts take on Tonga in the Pool A opening game. Canada are grouped in Pool A and will face a tough group that also includes France and Japan who are all ranked higher than them in the IRB World Rankings.
To add some extra spice to the matches Canada’s own coach Kieran Crowley is a Kiwi who was in the squad for the 1987 tournament and will be hoping to dent his own countries hopes of taking home the Webb Ellis Cup when they play each other on the 10th of October. With 5000 Canadian fans reportedly travelling to New Zealand to support the team it should be a fantastic occasion and although Canada will not be favourites for the cup they will be looking to upset a few teams and get as far as they can in the tournament.
